  1. Isn't placebo effect a direct experience? I am also not sure this is what placebo is you describe

  3. Have you tried a diet approach? If your body feels better, you feel more relieved. Sorry for your pain
  4. I have noticed, I often choose the most difficult routes regardless of my health. I can't stand not participating, because of supposed smugness people display that do take these routes. I can not stand people hiding non-ethical, a-sensitive consideration behind competence and norms. I want to see them burn for it, but I guess I am the one burning after.
  5. I absolutely agree. I wasn't making a stance for the converse direction. But that's a good answer as well.
  6. @Mandy I want to say mandy, you have really good psychological insight. What about a man, who believes he is not good enough for a woman?
  7. What do you mean, mandy?
  8. Randomness is not opposed to determinism. Randomness is a form of determinism. You need to look at the definitions you are holding.

    Bored

I'm bored. I want to do something. What can I do? I can't call people anymore, their minds caught in "everyday normal life" and I don't want to hear it. Don't know who I could have a good discussion with anymore or where I could find love. Not very much interested in video games anymore either. Party is not my thing.
  10. You could say, I will predict my next thought. But then: there are no thoughts, you hit the thought or you didn't. Then comes the question: what is the probability of hitting that thought? 1: infinity? If it's that, then it's either impossible or 100% Because if you try to hit 1 from infinity then infinity exists and you have all the infinite time to get this thought out, so 100%. If you said to calculate it in a finite time frame ( let's say within the next 2 seconds), then impossible, because how do you choose 1 thought between infinite in 2 seconds? Unless you will it, but did you will it then or was it meant to happen? We can go like this for infinity.
  11. @Someone here Randomness implies miscalculation by 100% accuracy of your ability to calculate correctly. How does it fit into arising thoughts?
  12. The idea of randomness comes from a position that wants to confine it into tight linearity. Spontaneity from one that enjoys spontaneity.
  13. Notice how both of these pointers show limitations. One is the limitation of having "control" the other is the limitation "determinism". Since both are limitations, none can be true. If it's determined - it's limited to what it is determined. If it's in your control - it's limited to your control.
  14. Thoughts arise spontaneously, you have no control over it, so there is no free will. Thoughts arise spontaneously, you can't make out a coherent origin or goal, so there is no determinism. The ability that they arise, is not determinism
  15. @Mandy I see @James123 a miserable pile of secrets, if you is gettin'me
  16. But why is there the believing in the first place, that something which isn't perceived by oneself becomes hurtful?
