This thread is about responsible informed usage of perfectly legal mushrooms people order as spores online and grow themselves. Please note this is not a suggestion to take mushrooms. This is also not a suggestion not to take mushrooms. The utilization of mushrooms on your path is entirely your choice, and all aspects that come with it are your responsibility. The aim here is truly neither to encourage nor discourage, but to inform. 

 

Foundation:

A foundation of daily meditation & expression is strongly suggested. Ideally, at least a few months. Centering / grounding, relaxing and focusing on feeling breathing in the stomach are great preparation for a calm, smooth, enjoyable, healing, mind expanding experience.

 

Set, Setting & Dosage:

The most important considerations for a favorable experience are proper set & setting and dosage. This combined with a proper foundation greatly reduces the potential for being overwhelmed, doing anything regrettable, and or experiencing a ‘bad trip’, and instead contributes to allowing healing & insight. This is not something one just ‘jumps into’. Allocate at least a couple of hours for reading up. 

 

Generally speaking, most people have a low tolerance to psilocybin. It is always best to to start small in terms of dosage. Taking too much too soon of what is arguably one of the most powerful naturally occurring healing substances on the planet can cause an adverse experience essentially ruining the potential available. Start. Small. 

 

By & large, being outdoors in nature & having an experienced trip sitter present is ideal.

Tea:

Why make tea vs just eating the mushrooms?

The fleshy part of the mushroom is mildly toxic and can cause nausea. It’s not toxic to any concerning level, but ruling out nausea is preferable and makes for an easier & clearer healing experience. 

 

How to make tea:

Cut mushrooms into tiny pieces.

Add about one mug of water to a pot and bring it to a boil. 

Add the chopped mushrooms and immediately turn the heat down to simmer, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.

Then pour the liquid from the pot to the mug.

Use a metal strainer, or just two metal spoons, and squish the active ingredient out of the mushrooms into the mug. 

Do that a few times to get it all out.

Then throw away the mushroom pieces and drink the tea.

Add a little honey for a flavor if desired. 

 

Please feel free to share any experiences, information on specific strands, as well as anything you think might be helpful to anyone less experienced who’s adding mushrooms to their path.

Great post. I would also add some importance to cleaning the space / house/home and body in whatever way you know best can help a lot such as eating more light that day, or ideally a few days to weeks beforehand to cleanse the body off dense energies and thought-patterns, mostly or only fruits and vegetables or fresh juices and exercise would be ideal, and laying off the processed junk foods and factory farmed animal products, salts, sugars and sexual activities or porn and social media is quite known is shamanic guidelines and can make a big difference in the overall quality and healing potential of the experience.

 

Having a ceremonial cacao an hour or two beforehand to help activate and release some energy to better prepare one for the experience which helps one be in a more positive and empowered and chemically nourished state to make the most of the experience. Cacao & Mushrooms have been used hand in hand by many ancient shamanic traditions as they work in synergy together although not always needed and can amplify the mushrooms.

 

Having some herbal teas, fresh fruits and or coconut water nearby can help during the experience.  Having access to a shower or bath can be very relaxing and healing as well as getting some fresh air if possible and feel safe to do so. A fireplace or outdoor fire pit is helpful for transmuting energies and thoughts, most of my experiences often end up gazing in a meditative state with the fire and the stars while sipping on some relaxing herbal tea to help wind down.

 

If you find yourself anxious and thinking too much, set some reminders to ground into your body, ceremonial tobacco or mapacho helps with this, but a good dance, yoga or a massage is especially effective, not only to get one into the body but also release old and stagnant energy from the body/consciousness, even a few moments of "feeling" can get you completely out of your head and into the experience. When we truly "feel" we cannot really over-think.

 

The rest will feel and be very natural and intuitive.  Blessings ~

Seems promising. There’s a movie out about a girl who ketamine seems to have worked great for when nothing else did called Caring For Maya. The movie is tragic, heartbreaking & positively disturbing but the irony of the title is quite funny.

It’s likely best to start with a gram or less and increase in small increments.

Techincally (neurologically, scientific materialism-ally) speaking, the active molecule attaches to serotonin receptors, causing them to "fire", or signal randomly. 🤔 At least that's what I've heard.

 

Same for other classic psychedelics, like mescalin, LSD and DMT.

 

 

There must be an effortless way.

There are only molecules in a trip. Mushrooms don’t technically cause the trip, they reveal the trip. Similarly, enlightenment isn’t a future experience, but is uncovered via dispelling beliefs to the contrary. Trippers call UL ‘molecules’, ‘serotonin’, etc. There are only trippers, in the trip. If there is no causation, substances are essentially mental ‘permission slips’. ‘Random’ is a hindsight thought label, functionally similar to ‘ego’ thoughts.  Laughter is also a ‘release’ of UL, in that it’s a release of a ‘to the contrary’,of UL. The hindsight labels could be thought of as ‘conditions’, assumptions, beliefs. Apparently. Interestingly… vacation used to mean ‘be empty, free’ (vacant). Also potentially interesting… the term ‘pharm’ as in pharmacy was used because it goes under the radar / people hear ‘farm’.
