  2. No. i want to work as a professional philosopher. Do you understand what I mean? Just like people work as doctors or lawyers. It should be obvious the difference between just philosophizing in your home vs going to academia and studying and teaching philosophy.
  3. @Eothasian it's true . i want to become a philosopher. By that I mean a professional philosopher . Not a "forum philosopher "lol What's wrong with desiring it as a career ? Although it's too late for me because I only have the option to study business in university.
  4. @Eothasian how did you know I want to be a philosopher? Are you on the actualized forum as well ?
  5. @Eothasian lack of decisiveness. Not high enough self-esteem .lack of confidence .lack of masculinity etc.
  6. @Eothasian it means I'm too much of a coward to do it .
  7. Because I don't have the balls to go searching for it in the dark web or finding dealers .
  8. Lol. Its illegality obviously šŸ™„
  9. @Eothasian I do actually. I wanna taste how it feels like . I'm sick and tired and bored of life's mediocre pleasures .I wanna try something different
  10. Thanks šŸ˜Š. Still though..I wanna dig deeper with you about this whole notion of "guidance of feeling " or following what feels good to us .I know it's a core pillar of your teachings but I have some sincere difficulties in digesting it . You know..From an evolutionary perspective, it is exactly why humans ..and indeed any species have survived. The reward system is a critical piece of the evolutionary puzzle. It goes like this: if a specific behaviour is vital for survival and hence for genes to be passed on via reproduction, letā€™s say sex or eating, the animal/creature/human must have a motivation to pursue such behaviour, and that motivation is the reward system ..otherwise known as pleasure. So, yes there are some advantages in doing what feels good, or at least there have been up until modern times where we have been able to hijack the reward system. We can do this in various ways: excessive food, sex, porn .. and especially drugs, to name a few. In the animal world motivation via pleasure is required to survive. But now that we have got to a point in human history where we donā€™t struggle for food for the most part, and drugs are plentiful, Iā€™d say ā€œif it feels good, do itā€, is advice that will lead you straight to addiction of any kind. So in the end ..of course we should seek what feels good to us and avoid pain and suffering..this isn't rocket science ..it's pretty much common sense stuff . But it has some fine details and nuances. Not every activity that feels good should be our goal to chase after ..and the heroin thing is just one example. I know its gross but just to illustrate the point .
  11. @Phil I will . Sorry if I come off as annoying or argumentative.
  12. Probably about the quality of what we feed our minds of thoughts ? Idk honestly. You need to explain it to me to not come off as offensive šŸ˜¤. Whilst it is true that there can be some merit in listening to your gut feelings, doing something because it ā€œfeels goodā€ is a very limited point of view. When looking for advice, I am seeking a fresh perspective. I am hoping the person I am asking advice from can tell me something I havenā€™t noticed. When I need advice, I need the big picture. ā€œIf it feels good, do it,ā€ is a baseless statement that offers me nothing new. It can also lead to some pretty disastrous consequences. For example..shooting herion is the most amazing kick ass feeling in the world ..why not do it since it feels good ?
  13. When you have a choice between saving 3 people you know or 5 you don't, do you use your feelings for guidance? When you have to choose a course to study at Uni, do you choose what you are best at, or what you like the most? When choosing someone to be with for life, do you pick them for material values or for the feeling you get when they are with you? I probably think that because feelings are very complex.. our fight or flight can be mistaken for feelings, but I call them false feelings. They are misguiding and lead us further down the rabbit hole. True, unbiased feelings can only be felt in a very calm and peaceful state of mind, that is when feelings become most helpful. Intuition is a feeling, and it is one that I trust the most, negative feelings are a fog that make it impossible to make a reasonable decision with good results. But your feelings and ā€œfalse feelingsā€ are the reason you are alive today, without them you would wonder into traffic without concern, or indulge in extremely reckless behavior. They guide you through life and there is nothing you can do to escape that. All you can do is be the master of how you feel, and have the willpower to understand those feelings, question them, and try to change them into something else. If you have a bad feeling about someone you meet do you really want to hang out with that person or try and be their friend? Not likely, but our feelings are here to help us, even though it seems the opposite. Control is something we must take, not give. What would you be without feelings like fright, happiness, nostalgia, anger, love, hate,..? Youā€™d be cold as hell. Some times you can hide, stop a feeling. At other times it is overwhelming, and you have to do something. @Phil is my understanding of this topic on the money ?
  14. Because I'm not exercising my masculinity enough in my life. By that I mean I'm not showing enough masculine traits .I'm irresponsible and childish in my behaviour in general. I'm 24 but I'm still immature.
  15. Of course. How can I stop if I'm not even wanting to stop or if I'm not clear about it ? Before achieving any goal..you have to first set the goal and decide what you gonna do .
  16. No I haven't. I will look it up . But before that I need to be clear about whether I want to quit or not . I enjoy the habit but it's obviously damaging my health. I can't make up my mind if I want to continue smoking or not . Because I've been smoking for 10 years now ..it is spiralling out of control. I smoke few pack a week . And I'm already starting to feel the consequences. I have a burning sensation in my chest especially after eating food .I think my lungs are severely damaged. So how do I make the decision to stop once and for all ?
  17. How do you define masculinity? What are the traits of a "real man "? What does it even mean to be a man? Is it by being tough and hard nosed and bitter all the time? Or is this just toxic masculinity? Curious to know how would you define masculinity. Because I feel out of touch with my masculinity. And I want to grow on that area .
  18. Well of course its not like heroin. But it's still pretty tough. I'm trying to quit for 4 years now and I relapse on a weekly basis . Itā€™s an addiction, plain and simple. Also what makes it hard for me is my friends and family members also smoke. I was with my brother and sister-in-law today and I swear that every moment they could they had a cigarette in their mouths or hands. I donā€™t think there was anything going on there except them non-consciously trying to keep their nicotine levels precisely modulated.
  19. Because that's not how I feel . That's half the story . In the back of my mind I'm of course anxious about the damage I'm doing to my body and health . So I'm split off into two different islands. One that doesn't give a shit and just wants to smoke like there is no tomorrow. And one that deep down knows that this is not the right thing for me to do . Which one I gonna win ? I don't know .
  20. I eat healthy balanced clean diet . I have no problem about diet. Every now and then I allow myself to indulge in some pizza or ice cream or whatever..but generally I eat healthy food .
  21. I'm beyond help. I'm smoking right now as I'm typing to you lol. What if I told you I'm completely at peace and I accept myself as a smoker and that I have no problem smoking for the rest of my life. Because smoking is WONDERFUL!! There is simply no way that I will ever quit! I am very glad that I started! What do you say to that ?
  22. Yes you are right .but like I said that's why I started almost 10 years ago. That's not why I smoke today. Im no longer trying to impress anyone with smoking. Today I smoke because I MUST .its like food and water. We know that smoking cigarettes is bad. Cigarettes can also fascinate people and they fascinated me, so I decided to start smoking cigarettes in my youth. You are right .. The first cigarettes were not very good, the other cigarettes were always better and today I still smoke and I don't regret it. I need to change my whole perspective. Or do I?
  23. But I've been doing it for almost a decade now and it is becoming a big part of my psychology. I started when I was 16 to impress girls in high school . You are right ,I didn't like it at first and coughed a lot ,but with time it became my best friend. I may have learned to use cigarettes as a coping mechanism for everything from excitement and happiness to boredom or even anger. How i quit for good when I've become emotionally attached to cigarettes? The power that nicotine has over people who smoke is tremendous. I know that nicotine is a toxic substance .only because of the many health risks of smoking, but because of the tricks nicotine plays on those who use it. I just can't stop .I can't put the damn cigarettes down no matter how much I try.
