How much do you Influence your Kids?

Recommended Posts

Did you have your kids have the same diet as you?

Did you influence your kids with your religion or way of viewing the world?

Where do you draw the line? When do you impose your values on your kids and what areas of life do you let them learn their own lessons in?

"Mediocrity is gone. Mind is clear of limitation. I seek no state of enlightenment. Neither do I remain where no enlightenment exists. Since I linger in neither condition, eyes cannot see me. If hundreds of birds strew my path with flowers, such praise would be meaningless."

@Phil what a breath of fresh air. From most families I see it's pretty normal to try to brainwash your kids.

@Phil what if your kids end up doing that to their kids? Well I guess it's not in your hands.

@Phil awesome. I can't wait to be a grandpa!

I mean I've thought about the future for my family a lot and it seems that while some principles like love, acceptance, listening-first can be shared - any kind of "legacy" can shift or crumble.

But life is always in Flux.

@Phil damn, that's good.

I hear Christians say something similar "That is really God's child, not my child".

They don't often practice it though 😦

Yeah. That’s what I say when they get into trouble. Hey… ain’t my kid. That’s God’s kid.

Lol.

😂

@Phil Do you give them any life advice?

It depends what’s meant by life advice. If what’s meant is what they should do or need to do, then no. If what’s meant is have I shared that there is discord & alignment, that all is love, do I offer a more aligned thought or view occasionally, do they have dreamboards, and have I shared the emotional scale and other tools, then yes.

Do they ask for advice similar to what's asked here in this forum?

Endless unique snowflakes, all the same snow. So yes & no.

Or are they already masters of their emotions?

As consciousness there is an experience of & exploration of, and guidance of emotions, yes. Of course.

Is there someone who masters, no. Of course not.

@Phil Must be very nice to have a father like you, that your kids can be comfortable with you and you can help guide them to their source. There is some benefit in being next to you 24/7 and get help quickly when you need it. It's a cheat code lol 😂

With the snowflake metaphor, do you mean that there are endless unique types of "problems" but they all stem from the same thing?

What I really meant to ask is are they living well? Do they seem to suffer sometimes?

Well… this can’t really guide this to this since this is already this.

Not sure if a cheat code which points out there’s no cheat code is really a cheat code.

And there’s also the factor of ‘no one is wise in their own village’.

I agree with that, but no, I meant people.

Suffering is only direct.

Didn't get it

So you'll never assume a mute person is suffering?

What if the person doesn't know he's suffering?

What if I am suffering yet I keep suppressing and ignoring, so nobody knows I'm suffering, and the suffering just continues...

It has to do with beliefs and attachment.

That would be the assumption(s) there’s a you, people and suffering.

Inspect what is, what’s true instead of ignoring. Start expressing instead of suppressing.

When people here on the forum talk about their suffering, you and others appear to give advice, assuming they are suffering. And how do you know they are suffering?

Are you saying suffering doesn't exist? Didn't the buddha say something along the lines of "Life is suffering"?

... So then why are you telling me this?

What makes you think I need to inspect and express?

Life is suffering in the same way Schrödinger's cat is alive.

Which is to say, that it isn’t.

The truth is simpler.
