Phil
The belief in separate selves seems to be part & parcel of, or inherently come with, thoughts about these selves being at fault or not at fault, right or wrong, guilty or innocent. From the illusory misidentification as a separate self, there is this other separate thing life and life is primarily about defending the separate self as not to be at fault, guilty or wrong, and therein experience shame or embarrassment. Meanwhile in reality, these thoughts about there being separate selves are all an appearance of the same one lens. From The Four Agreements... "Don’t take anything personally – nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering." Apply it to any area in your life, or anything you are displeased with. What if it wasn't about you? What fills in when that assumption is seen through? Aren't others the dream of I itself?
