I cannot appreciate and also notice that someone else is not appreciating me, but I can always appreciate and feel that appreciation directly. Seems that way to someone who think he's missing out on some superior quality, but if you think dependence and independence are separate and at odds real independence will continue to elude you. Mind games, projection, conceptualizing the guidance, etc, all just kinda naturally become less alluring & fizzles out upon a certain maturity.
