Use relationships for good and awakening.

You've probably heard the old philosophical question, why is there something rather than nothing?

 

That's a good question. It makes you wonder, and it makes you see how you've taken things for granted, not noticing how kinda odd it is that this universe seems to be here.

 

Here's another question. Why is there a bunch of people here?

 

When you go to a supermarket and look around, you see a lot of people. Old people, young people, men, women. Thin people, fat people, rich people, drug addict people, homeless people, family people. Black people, white people, asian people... The list continues.

 

Isn't that kinda odd too? That there is a bunch of people hanging around here.

 

Notice that you have more special people in your life too. You have or had parents, you might have kids, friends, a romantic and intimate partners. A boss, an employee, a customer, a neighbour.

 

All sorts of relationships. When you think about it, other people is a HUGE part of your life. So much of your day-to-day life centers around relationships. Isn't it so? How many thoughts, judgements, beliefs have you had appearing today, about people?

 

 

If you're a wee bit into spirituality, you've probably already heard someone say that people are like mirrors. We reflect each other. That is a very wise remark. It is indeed so. All this people, it is one big projection.

 

And here's the million dollar (or a billion, or straight down invaluable) insight.

 

If you change, the reflection changes.

 

AND (here's the lottery ticket)

 

If the reflection changes, you change.

 

We're not at simple cause-effect waters anymore. We've gone nondual.

 

 

As you see your brothers and sisters, so you see yourself. As you treat others, so you treat yourself. What you give, you get.

 

How you judge, you are judged.

 

You can either mindlessly, unconsciously keep your judgements, projections and all such egoic nonsensery. And so keep your misery too. This is how you nail yourself on the cross. This is how you weave the sticky web of samsara.

 

Or you can take the lottery ticket and cash it. Do not let any encounter with another slip through your fingers anymore. Every single encounter is a holy encounter. USE IT FOR GOOD AND AWAKENING. This is how you liberate. Each encounter, whatever it is, is a treasure, a gift.

 

Your relationships are either steaming shit, or gold. You can give yourself shit, or gold.

 

Do not project. Do not judge. Do not blame. Do not evaluate. No more "she's a four, but she's a ten". Do not give yourself shit.

 

With everyone you encounter, look straight into innocence, perfection, the lovely heart, the buddha, the kingdom of Heaven. Give yourself gold. You will recieve what you give; the peace of innocence, perfection, love and light.

I'm not saying there is something that the other person has that can give you happiness. Like money or beauty etc.

 

But in the careful, mindful inspection of your judgement and projection.
