Devin
Usually when I or someone else is feeling hopeless, or overwhelmed, depressed, or like there's no point; to me it seems like you're needing a sort of rest. Everyone seems to get bogged down at some point, and the typical 'fix' we're taught we need is to feel better, to get back up on the horse, or that there's something wrong with us, but I don't think that's right. We don't need to do anything, accomplish anything.... actually you can't anyway, everything will be destroyed, nothing will last, no matter the accomplishment you will be forgotten, king tut, king Solomon, Buddha, Jesus.... will all be forgotten. So what are we here for? To enjoy So what does this have to do with depression. To me our culture has a sick idea about rest, vacations are busier than a work week and all that matters is makin' that 💰, so when our subconscious starts to tell us otherwise we get this discordance, we get sucked into a whirlwind of confusion and emotions we can't make sense of. My views on depression as someone with no merit in the field is that you need a rest, a rest from all this, that form you're supposed to feel from meditation, real Deep-restin'. Many people believe they can't escape their lives to afford a rest, that's a personal choice, but one I vehemtly disagree with, I would say you can't afford not taking it. Long-termwise, because this is a recurring need, you need to prioritize in your life plan the ability to take these rests, design your life for it, this usually means cutting fat from it including worldly goals and aspirations. Like Jesus said it's easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven. Would you rather live in heaven/joy, or accomplish some feat reorganizing this dust we call earth into an altar to yourself, all just for it to return to dust? If you think enjoyment is something that requires work or an effort or accomplishment by you I suggest you're wrong, to prove it I ask you look at the sky right now, what do you feel? Joy is always with you, no circumstance changes that, choose Joy. All that said, I still believe you will accomplish more goals, even worldly admirable goals with this tact rather than what is well coined burning out. Tortoise and Hare, sabbath commandment, .... pick your poetic poison, sometimes slower is faster, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Don't be afraid or feel guilty to take a rest, it's how you'll do the most good, it's required. Edited August 1 by Devin Quote Mention
Phil
🙏🏼 The experience of goals & aspirations is awesome and feels amazing. The attachment (identifying as a rich human) is suffering. Quote Mention YouTube Website Sessions

They're fun and exciting while you're working on them if you're not needing rest or something like that at the moment, but accomplishing them really doesn't bring joy or anything really. I don't love the word attachment for it though, it's a decent pointer, but doesn't attachment sound like Two to you, "attaching to something separate", even if talking about just a thought, the thought really isn't separate. Like, you can sit in any circumstance or thought and enjoy or suffer, " I'm poor and want to be rich". Attachment unintentionally implies you need to separate but to me trying to separate is different than just enjoying. Attachment to me makes it sound harder than it is. Like you often talk about how things are just thoughts and not actual, so obviously there's no attachment, there's no separation. Just enjoy. I think the best pointer is just enjoying, as in you yourself just enjoying, sort of goes with the old addages like monkey see monkey do, be a light onto the world, be the change you want to see in the world,... Second best I think is just saying just enjoy. Quote Mention

Orb
Amazing quotes, thanks for sharing. The learning to rest and not quitting quote was like a lightning bolt to the brain. My brain is like activated by it woah..... I love when life seems to be crazy, like no money in the bank crazy, and then "resting" gets put to the test, the real practice gets put to the test. Thanks. Something that's been bugging me lately is the sayings about how life is short or goes by fast, I'm 32 and feel like I've lived 4 or so lifetimes, looking back I really disagree with the hurry up idea. Hearing all you young people worry so much about not being where you want to be in life yet really strikes a nerve. To me it really seems the people that take it in stride go further, go anywhere really, most just spin their wheels in one place, never taking the time to get a sense of direction just following everyone else in the hamster wheels. Take the down times and just keep trying, that's what seems to be the ticket. "Go easy on yourself in the hard times, go hard on yourself during the easy times." Orb
@Devin a wise friend of mine told me that everyone's going fast in young age, but the real key is to slow down 🙂. It seems (paradoxically so) that when one slows down in a world full of people moving fast and stressing out, that success actually manifests faster for the slower people. It's crazy, I go to work at an office depot and the amount of ppl who are always stressing, moving all over the place in thought is astounding. Like most people add so much unnecessary weight onto their lives.
