Orb Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Meditation doesn't feel comfortable the way it used to. It is still KNOWN that I am awareness, love, consciousness, etc. This is still knowledge, still beliefs. Thought has no place to rest, it doesn't know whether to go right or left, within the body or within the unborn source. Thought hides behind the Self and Consciousness and all those lofty words, and avoids the possibility that even those beliefs are beliefs. What happens when the belief "I am Love, Consciousness, Awareness, etc" stops arising? Notice how thought always wants to ground itself in something, examples are : Love, Consciousness, Awareness, Being, Source, God, Buddha-Mind. What happens when that activity stops arising? Quote Mention "In my world love is the only law. I do not ask for love, I give it" - Nisargadatta Maharaj
Orb Posted June 21, 2023 Author Posted June 21, 2023 I am not Love, consciousness, awareness, etc. I am also not a human or an object. But who is the "I" that is interested in knowing what it is or is not? Quote Mention "In my world love is the only law. I do not ask for love, I give it" - Nisargadatta Maharaj
Orb Posted June 21, 2023 Author Posted June 21, 2023 The expansiveness of the Self feels great, but my heart tells me this is another step on the path. Can even the Self be transcended? Quote Mention "In my world love is the only law. I do not ask for love, I give it" - Nisargadatta Maharaj
Orb Posted June 21, 2023 Author Posted June 21, 2023 The onion has been peeled further. "I" or "I Am" is the most essential form of Ego. First it's I (assumption that theres a Self), then I Am (assumption that this Self has agency/doership), then I am X (Assumption that this Self that has agency is confined to a sense-object). Going all the way back to the "I" sense feels good, it's lighter, less personal, but still theres a sense of being grounded in something. Quote Mention "In my world love is the only law. I do not ask for love, I give it" - Nisargadatta Maharaj
