Starting and Growing a New Business and/or a Second Business Thread

What have you found effective when it comes to having a solo online business?

Looking to start my own about "self-help".

I was specially wondering about the role of integrity and authenticity in marketing a "conscious" business, one that truly aims to elevate others in some way, like this forum and website!

Right now I’m very interested in mobile app development .  I feel like people use their phones primarily now and go to their PCs secondarily when they have to.  I’ve been getting so more done working at the library from 9-5 everyday than from home.

Are business and marketing about effective manipulation? How do successful entrepreneurs and business owners think and behave? How come some people are successful while others aren't? What do these people do differently? Regardless of their business, certain individuals are good at business in general. Whatever business they're in gets eventually successful.

How do you make an information business attractive without sacrificing the reality of the content? Turns out if it's real, "raw", not many people get interested in that type of content. The viral content is usually the most superficial, entertaining, attractive and hyped up one. Not that there's anything intrinsically wrong or negative about that. It's just more inauthentic.

Coincidence? I think not!

There are degrees to this.  An ideal business is monetizing what you already do that is aligned with your values.  I don't believe business has to necessarily be nefarious.   You could design the next best development work mobile app that helps millions of people improve their lives.  But it does require a person who is inclined toward business.  Business is about sticking with something fundamentally.  Business requires commitment, Marriage.  No business is going to survive without that sticktuitiveness.  That's a feature, a character trait, a personality trait that's kinda necessary to start a business and to make it a business that survives over time.
