  1. Phil, your teachings depress me. I'm gonna start my own forum and blame you. You're all welcomed to defend why you like or dislike this forum, but that won't change my emotional reactivity. Joking, btw.
  2. By definition no extreme is balanced, so maybe being for or against "gurus" isn't the appropriate attitude. Are you doing this in order to be entertained, act out some repressed emotion, or what? We could trash on Osho and even on Jesus. You guys are resented or something, and dismissive, others are biased, attached and ideological. Proof is such a long and dramatic thread on a guy.
  3. Vippasana seems like such a deceptively simple practice. I love how raw and barebones it is. Have you guys got any practice with it? Have you researched it? What resources, and books, do you recommend? I'm reading The Art of Living and am loving it. So direct and authentic.
  4. What resources do you guys recommend? Books or general advice would be appreciated. Practice is key. For now I'd like to take a look at a book or two to learn the theory of it, until I have the necessary equipment. Thanks.
  5. There seems to be a prevalent tendency in spiritual communities of being airy-fairy and just believing stuff. As an invitation, I wanted to introduce the principle of groundedness for it to be contemplated. Be honest: how real is this work for you? In your experience, what do you really know? Call it for what it is. If you believe it, call it a belief. Otherwise we're fooling ourselves. Like seriously, what do you believe in? Make a distinction between believing in something vs having actually personally validated the truth of the matter oneself. In your experience, do you know who and what you are? Are you directly conscious of it? I'm not. Still working on that, although I could spit several theories and shit I've gathered from books. Keep the conversation real please, don't come acting spiritual "there is nothing to do"or some such. Thanks.
  6. I know the point is to practice but until I buy the equipment for my home gym, what books and general resources have you guys found most useful, if any? Maybe this should be started as a new thread in another section.
  7. I'd say first understand what it is and why it arises, experientially. Then out of that understanding you'll be able to notice how it is an activity of your own making. From that you'll be able to stop doing it. Create a positive vision for your life.
  8. Derek Sivers. I love, love, love his style. Bought all of his hardback books. How To Live deeply inspired me in a profound way. It's not about marketing per se, but whatever. Perfect for someone who intellectually masturbates too much. Lol Going to reread it as soon as it is delivered. Check out his other books if you feel called.
  9. @Phil let us know when the list is up. I started looking for it before realizing it might not be available yet.
  10. Interesting, may try it in the future. But ultimately I prefer bare bones meditation. No equipment required! (except your body). ;)
  11. @Phil You could put it in the main site, perhaps on a new Resources or Library page. Also, pinning it at the top sounds good to me.
  12. @Phil PleaseTell us where you'll put it
  13. Where did you get those pictures from? They're beautiful.
